Cairnlee House is a therapeutic community and residential home for young people aged 16 to 25 years with a wide variety of special needs including autism spectrum disorders (ASD). The values and objectives of Cairnlee House are based on the educational, philosophical and social principles of Anthroposophy, pioneered by Rudolf Steiner. Located in Bieldside, just 5 miles from Aberdeen, Cairnlee is comprised of 4 houses, craft workshops, gardens and assembly hall, all situated in a small estate in the midst of a suburban setting. The grounds offer opportunity for work and leisure and are within easy walking distance of local amenities and public transport. Our students live together with resident co-workers in a family-like setting. We offer education and skills training in a variety of subjects, and the practice of basic self-help and life skills is encouraged. Additional therapies and activities are available, such as speech, art, drama, Eurythmy, horse-riding, swimming, therapeutic baths, recreational walks, sports and games. Accepts volunteers. Students are referred by Social Work, or contact is made directly by parents or their carers. We accept self-referrals and referrals from overseas.
