Calderdale SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) Information, Advice and Support Service (formerly Calderdale Parent Partnership Service) provides legally based, impartial, confidential and accessible information, advice and support for parents of children and young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN) or Disabilities about education, health and social care. The IAS (Information, Advice and Support) Service will be able to offer face to face, telephone and electronic information advice as well as casework and representation when needed. They will work impartially and confidentially with parents and children/young people together but will also ensure through the Independent Support Coordinator that they are able to provide a service directly and separately to children and to young people should they request it. How can we help?: Give impartial information and advice; Give information or refer you to other sources; Explain jargon and help with letter writing; Go with you to reviews and meetings; Help make sure you have your say; Explain the assessment process and your rights; Offer counselling; Allocate you an impartial parental supporter; Advice about exclusions; Advice about Education Health and Care Plans (EHC Plans) and statements; Advice about SEN support and SEN for disability at school aged 0 - 25 years; Dyslexia screening; and Mediation..
