CALL Scotland provides specialist expertise in technology for children who have speech, communication and/or writing difficulties, in schools across Scotland. Provides the following: information and advice service; a loan bank which offers loans of specialist equipment for communication and learning; and an assessment and support service which aims to give additional support to practitioners by assessing, jointly with their own local teams, people with complex needs who might benefit from technology. Some of CALL's services are free to users but we may have to charge fees or expenses for others. CALL Scotland provides a wide range of training and CPD opportunities for staff working with children who have Additional Support Needs. CALL is on the National Register of CPD providers. In 2009-10 we are offering a programme of courses based in CALL covering four main themes: making print materials more accessible; making exams and assessments more accessible; complying with legislation and supporting pupils with complex needs. A number of courses in each theme are relevant for staff working with pupils with autism. Courses can be tailored to meet local requirements. Courses are generally led by members of the experienced CALL Scotland team. Most courses are aimed at teachers, therapists and other staff working with pupils who have additional support needs, but parents and other interested people are welcome to attend.
