Main information
Type of service: Day schools, Schools

This autism spectrum disorder (ASD) provision is within Callander Primary School. Pupils are allocated places by the Local Authority (LA) through the staged intervention process. Our pupils tend to be those who cannot be successfully supported in their mainstream primaries. Each pupil is taught via their specific learning & communication profile. Alternative communication systems can be used where appropriate eg Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS). We work closely with speech and language therapists (SaLT) and occupational therapists (OT) professionals. Mainstream inclusion is encouraged for part of the day and this is dependent on each individual's needs. All pupils have an Individualised Educational Learning Plan to ensure targets are specific to each learner. Children can be taught in small group or one to one settings determined by their level of need. We work closely with parents and carers to ensure good communication across each pupil's day.
