Cantraybridge College was established to promote the skills and talents of young people with disabilities. For 20 years, the college has sought to help young people with disabilities by creating opportunities to learn and grow. A hybrid of care farming, social care and vocational approaches to learning and development are at the centre of our work. Over 20 years, we have developed our services with a focus on the needs of young people with autism, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), Asperger syndrome and learning disabilities. We believe that these young people can achieve their goals and dreams and surpass the expectations of others by being given the chance to come to Cantraybridge. We operate a 19 acre small holding from our base in Croy, in the Highlands. During their time at Cantraybridge, young people are encouraged to choose which of our 4 main training departments they would like to work in; Horticulture, Agriculture, Woodwork and Small Animals. Our young people engage in many learning and personal development activities, including: Making and selling woodwork crafts; Growing/rearing and selling agricultural and horticultural produce; Social enterprise activities, including an on-site cafe and themed festivals; Formal and informal learning, employability skills, SVQ levels 1 and 2; Work experience; and Community work. We provide residential accommodation and support young people to maintain their homes, undertake domestic chores, shopping and cooking.
