Main information
Type of service: Day schools, Schools
The name of the unit for children with an autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is the Autistic Spectrum Resource Centre (ASRC). We are an ASD centre for years 9-13 attached to a mainstream high school. We have 12 student spaces in the Centre and students are expected to go out to main school lessons. However they register in the Centre and stay here for life skills, social skills (with a speech / language therapist), Personal, social and health education (PSHE) and citizenship. ASRC students are encouraged to mix with main school students and given opportunities to do so. The Centre students also access visits etc as a group. We have 12 students and 6 members of staff and are at full capacity with a large waiting list. Volunteers may be accepted to work with the pupils.
