Type of service: Assessment, Diagnostic services, Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS)

This is a diagnostic service for children aged 0-13 years (or up to school-leaving age if child has a learning disability). It offers a multi-disciplinary assessment including clinical psychology, psychiatry, paediatricians and speech therapy, etc. There is post diagnostic information and support programme for parents (Cygnet) & a drop-in support group. It also offers treatment for co-morbid disorders eg anxiety, depression and attention deficits, etc.

Assessment procedure: Autism Diagnostic Interview, Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule, standardised questionnaires, follow SIGN guidelines for assessment.

Follow up service: Treatment for comorbid disorders e.g behavioural problems, anxiety, attention deficits. Also post diagnostic programme for parents - Cygnet and drop-in support group.

Multi-disciplinary assessment: Yes, Clinical Psychologist, Psychiatry, Paediatrics, Speech and language therapy, Clinical Nurse Specialist, Occupational Therapist.

Covers: Orkney, Aberdeen City, Aberdeenshire
