Type of service: Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS)
Provides multidisciplinary assessment and treatment for the whole range of developmental, emotional and behavioural problems and disorders of childhood and adolescence up to the age of 18 years. Referrals are accepted via health, social services and education professionals. As well as the interventions listed below, family therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Psychotherapy and Psychological therapy are used within the service. Clinics are provided from two bases at Wednesfield and Bilston. The Jigsaw Clinic is a specialist neurodevelopmental clinic specifically for autism assessments. Dr Laura McGowan, Specialist Clinical Psychologist has received autism awareness training and has experience of working with people with an ASC. She is able to make home visits, visit a client's nursery/school, provide independent expert reports and attend tribunals/educational appeal committees.
