City of Peterborough Academy Special School
Main information
Type of service: Day schools, Schools
City of Peterborough Academy Special School provides 4-18 years education for up to 50 pupils from Reception to Year 7 in the first year, moving to full capacity of 90 pupils by 2018. We will specialise in the education of pupils who have a Statement of Special Educational Needs (SEN), linked to their diagnosis of autism, in particular high functioning autism and Asperger syndrome. The Special School opened in September 2012 in existing buildings on the old Hereward School site in Peterborough. A major capital building programme costing £13.4m, for both the Special School and the mainstream Academy, was secured to provide ‘state of the art’ buildings and facilities for pupils and staff. The new building opened in June 2013 and is co-located with the mainstream 11-19 years City of Peterborough Academy which opened for Year 7 pupils in September 2013.
