Julie Clarke spent several years working for the National Health Service (NHS) under Eileen Arnold in Northampton, where she trained as a Treatment and Education of Autistic and Related Communication Handicapped Children (TEACCH) trainer. During the past 11 years she has attended courses such as Hanen, Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS), Social Stories TM and Talk Tools in order to enhance her skills working with the diverse needs of people who have an autism spectrum disorder (ASD). She has also received extensive training in Sensory Integration and believes that clients need to have their sensory issues addressed before they can focus on communication work with her. Julie Clarke' approach to providing therapy is eclectic and suited to whatever the client needs. More details of her experience and training are available on www.sltonline.co.uk. Standard speech and language assessment are made using tools such as Clinical Evaluation of Language Fundamentals® (CELF-4). She can also provide informal assessments for social skills and sensory integration dysfunction plus a neuro developmental screen to assess early reflex skills. Tribunal assessments are also undertaken and she frequently attends Tribunals as a witness for parents and can provide independent expert reports. Assessment sessions consist of case history taking, formal assessments and a written report. She is prepared to make home and school, nursery or college visits.
