Cornerstones
Main information
Type of service: Residential schools, Schools
Cornerstones is a specialist organisation supporting young people with autism and learning difficulties, inclusive of complex communication, sensory and behavioural needs to access meaningful education and community living experiences. We have a day school and residential care settings located in Cheshire, offering integrated therapeutic support. We work with families and local authorities from across the country to develop shared hope, vision and ambitions for our young people which will enable them to achieve their social, emotional, academic and life skills potential. Our school prospectus outlines any specific facilities, approaches and interventions that we use and is available to download on our website. The school provides residential care facilities for young people presenting with complex needs. There is a Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) registered school on site which is equipped to meet the needs of young people with autism. The young people are educated in small groups or individually, dependent upon their risk assessments and interpersonal skills. The school and care settings provide structure and boundaries for the young people, whilst ensuring that they live and learn in nurturing environments. Other interventions, approaches and programmes offered by the school are Child and adolescent mental health services (CAMHS) and other outside interventions such as educational psychologists.
