Cotswold Chine School
Main information
Type of service: Day schools, Residential schools, Schools
Cotswold Chine School caters for young people with a wide range of emotional, social and behavioural difficulties. The students are accommodated in five house-groups. Every house provides all young people with their own bedroom, shared communal areas and landscaped gardens which are designed to create a warm and friendly environment. Each young person has a key worker who works closely with the teachers to ensure that there is a consistent approach between education and care. The Curriculum encompasses a modern approach to the Rudolph Steiner Curriculum linked to the National Curriculum. The young people are taught in small mixed groups with and have access to individual tuition. Visual resources are widely used throughout the school and all classrooms are equipped with interactive white boards and computers. Development of communication and language skills is a key area within the school's Curriculum and the school's speech and language therapists work closely with the teachers and care staff to promote their development. There are a variety of after school clubs and activities available including art and music. The school recognises that many young people benefit from a clear and structured approach to their lessons and daily routine. However, it also recognises that each young person has individual needs and ensures that each young person has their own individual timetable, education plan and care plan with appropriate strategies aimed at meeting their needs. We still offer the same residential placements but there are also now 18 day student placements available.
