Credo Care is a foster care agency for disabled children from 0-18 based in the South East and the Midlands. The service provides an intensive foster care option for children and young people with complex needs such as autistic spectrum disorder, mild to moderate autism, Asperger's syndrome. Also children with accompanying learning difficulty and or epilepsy with or without ASD. Credo Care also specialises exclusively in providing placements for children who have physical or medical needs as an alternative to residential or hospital care. It places children whose primary need is autism with carers who have prior experience working with this disorder. Carers receive in addition to their statutory training, autism specific training, Makaton, Epilepsy and behavioural management. They also will attend courses specific to the needs of their foster child. Credo Care works in partnership with the school, parents, social workers and medical professionals to ensure that there is consistency of management. Its autism specific procedure identifies core needs and strategies which will support the child during transfer into foster care and these are regularly updated and reviewed. Care givers are monitored with regard to the effectiveness of their autism management. Current new developments are allowing planned respite breaks, partially funded by direct payments.
