Dawn House School is a non-maintained specialist special school catering for young people between the ages of 5 to 19 years who have speech language and communication difficulties or Asperger syndrome. The school aims to support pupils' development in speech and language, thinking and reasoning, self confidence and independence and prepare them for their future in society. Education therapy and care programmes are tailored to meet the needs of each pupil. Joint planning by our highly qualified and experienced staff ensures that the school provides a fully integrated language environment. It offers a broad and balanced curriculum leading to General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE) or entry level accreditation in a range of subjects at 16 and going on to higher levels of vocational and academic work in the Further Education (FE) department. The FE department (16-19 years) is an inclusive yet specialist provision working in close partnership with a local mainstream college and local employers and training providers. A team of speech and language therapists, occupational therapist (offering sensory integration) and an art therapist provide specialist input into the provision.
