DIAL is an independent charity that offers a free, impartial and confidential information and advice service run by disabled people. DIAL has been awarded Investor in People, the Community Legal Service Quality Mark, PQASSO Quality Assurance System, DIAL UK Quality Standards and has won Business Awards in Basildon & Thurrock for its work with volunteers and the disabled community. Anybody with a query or problem connected with disability can contact the service for advice. The main office is in Basildon town centre and is open Monday to Friday from 10am-4pm. The charity also operates from The Beehive in Grays on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday between 10am-4pm. It operates a home visiting service for people of all ages who are unable, or find it difficult, to get out. Some examples of the enquiries that it deals with are benefit issues, equipment, leisure activities, holidays, mobility, health issues, discrimination, education and employment. There is a Welfare Rights Adviser to help people with appeals and benefit issues.
