Main information

Type of service: Day schools, Schools, Local groups

Donaldson's is a Grant Aided Special School for children and young people who have complex additional support needs, some of whom may be on the autism spectrum. Pupils are referred by their local authorities and their placements are jointly funded by the Scottish Government and the local authority. We offer full-time, part-time or shared placements for pupils throughout their educational career in our nursery, primary and secondary departments. We offer a Total Communication environment as well as the use of British Sign Language (BSL). We have internal provision of a range of therapies including speech and language, physio and occupational therapy and an audiologist. Our specialist team works cooperatively with teaching staff and every pupil/student has an Individualised Educational Programme (IEP), a Care Plan where appropriate, and communication profiles are in place to ensure optimum support for the individual. Donaldson's also offers a range of out of school care for local children and Donaldson's pupils.
