This is a mainstream primary school with a special unit for children with moderate learning difficulties (MLD) called the Learning Support Centre. The majority of the children come from Downpatrick, but the school also serves outlying districts and traditionally accepts children from a wide area and from all backgrounds. The accommodation comprises 7 classrooms, a library and information and communications technology (ICT) suite, multi-purpose hall, meals kitchen and ancillary block. The special unit for pupils with MLD consists of 3 classrooms catering for up to 30 children who integrate with the main school for practical subjects. There is ample space in the grounds with extensive grass and tarmac areas.
