Durham SEND Information Advice and Support Service
Main information
Type of service: Parent partnerships, Parent partnerships, Family support and information services
Durham SEND Information Advice and Support Service (formerly County Durham Parent Partnership Service) offers support to parents of children with special educational needs (SEN) operating on an outreach basis across the county. The aim of the service is to enable parents to make informed decisions about their children's education. Parents can request the help of an Independent Parental Supporter to help them to express their views, or to understand processes and procedures relating to their child's special educational needs. A Newsletter is distributed to schools each term with information about what is available in the community and beyond, to children with SEN and their parents. They produce leaflets containing information on a variety of educational topics which are distributed through the service (and can be downloaded directly from the website), including the SEN Audit.
