East Dunbartonshire Befriending Service

Main information

Type of service: Befriending/mentoring

The befriending service trains volunteers to befriend lonely, isolated or disabled adults living in East Dunbartonshire. The volunteer befriender meets with the person they are matched with on a regular basis, weekly or fortnightly. They meet up for social activities which vary depending on the ability and interests of the befriendee. Activities undertaken include playing pool, cinema, car drives, visiting garden centres, going out for a meal, ten pin bowling and walking. Both befrienders and befriendee are supported by the befriending service. The service also provides a telephone, email and letter writing befriending service.
