Type of service: Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS)
CAMHS provide services across the county as well as some specialist services in North East Lincolnshire. Based in community locations, the multi-disciplinary teams can help with a range of complex mental and emotional health issues, including: anxiety, depression, trauma, eating disorders and self harm. CAMHS provides support and treatment where there are concerns about their mental health and/or psychological well-being, to do with:
- emotional health
- development
- physical health or disability (including learning disabilities)
- behaviour
- apparent onset of mental ill health.
The CAMHS team consists of: child psychiatrists, clinical psychologists, primary mental health workers, learning disabilities, nurse specialists, and self-harm specialists. Other provision within the service include: forensic, learning disability, Looked After Children, and input into the Youth Offending Service. The team works closely with community paediatricians, GPs and hospital staff on paediatric wards and can caters for children and young people with autism if they have accompanying mental health difficulties, although in cases where an autism spectrum disorder is suspected, patients will be referred on to Paediatricians elsewhere.
