Eastwick Infant School
Main information
Type of service: Day schools, Schools
Eastwick Infant School is a mainstream school with an attached Special Needs Support Unit (SNSU). The Key Stage 1 (KS1) National Curriculum is taught with differentiation where appropriate. SNSU pupils can be taught in a small group and/or in larger mainstream groups and classes. Pupils are either 'class based' or 'unit based' depending on their increasing ability to integrate into mainstream classes. All pupils will be expected to integrate into a mainstream class for part of the week. All routine school activities and procedures include mainstream and special needs pupils. Pupils are assessed by the speech and language therapists who work in liaison with teachers and assistants. The whole staff have undertaken training in strategies for working with pupils with autism and makaton signing. There are strong links with other providers.
