ESPA College is for 16 to 25 year olds who are on the autism spectrum. It offers day and residential places and consists of three day sites and two Halls of Residence, one of which is registered to provide support with personal care. The sites are in Newcastle and Sunderland. The programme starts in September and follows a 38 week academic year. Day and residential places are available and students may study for up to 3 years. Programmes of study are individually tailored and based upon students' specific needs and interests. All students follow the ESPA College Curriculum which is based on realistic goals and prepares each student for life beyond college. The Curriculum focuses on teaching Social Communication Skills, Emotional Literacy, Behaviour Self-Management, Skills for Life, Creative and Expressive Arts, Literacy, Numeracy and ICT, Media Studies, Independence, Leisure Skills, Employability Skills. Some students also attend General Further Educational colleges to do specific qualifications and vocational awards.
