Type of service: Befriending/mentoring

Face 2 Face is an expanding network of local befriending schemes, providing emotional support to parents whose children have been recognised as having a special need or disability. Local schemes recruit and train volunteer parents, who themselves have disabled children, to act as "befrienders". Befrienders are able to share and empathise with new parents because of their own emotional experiences, and support them to make positive adjustments to their child's disability.
