Falkland House School

Main information

Type of service: Day schools, Residential schools, Schools

Falkland House School is an all through residential school (ie we provide education through primary and secondary school) for boys from early primary to aged 18. The school offers 52 and 39 week, and day placements. Pupils are resident from Monday to Friday, returning home for weekends and holidays. Planned interaction between home and school is vital and the Outreach Programme operating at weekends and holidays supports this. The school is registered with and inspected by Her Majesty's Inspectorate of Education (HMIE) and the Scottish Care Commission. It has pupils from all over Scotland. The school follows the National Curriculum and runs over 180 Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) courses and modules. Each pupil has a Personal Learning Plan. The Outreach Programme is well established at Falkland House School. It has been developed to support individual pupils and their families/carers at weekends and during holiday periods, and is welcomed by them. The programme is particularly beneficial to pupils and their families who may be experiencing difficulty or are in crisis. Socially inclusive, Outreach takes place in a pupil’s local community or surrounding area. Generally, this is on a one-to-one basis involving a member of staff and a pupil, however if appropriate, a parent or a sibling can also be included. Popular activities include fishing, cycling, going to major football and rugby matches and visits to museums.
