Type of service: Respite and short breaks

The Family Link Service offers family based short breaks to disabled children and young people who meet the Disabled Children's Service criteria and are unable to access universal services as part of an assessment process. The service allows parents to have a break, knowing their child is in a safe environment with carers who are aware of their child's individual needs. The child will have the opportunity to make new friends and broaden their horizons, possibly doing things they don't normally do at home. The service now includes support within the child/young person's home and is not restricted to short break care. .
