Foxwood is a maintained community special school serving the Broxtome district of Nottinghamshire. We have a roll figure of 103 students aged 3-19 years. Learners with an autism spectrum disorder (ASD) are generally integrated fully into our class groups across all phases. Specialist ASD facilities are also available for learners with a more complex ASD profile including significant sensory and communication needs. Specific approaches include: Treatment and Education of Autistic and related Communication handicapped Children (TEACCH), Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS), sensory programmes including modulation of therapeutic approaches developed through multi-professional team meetings. Volunteers may be accepted to work with the pupils. All students must have received enhanced Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) clearance. The school also provides Holiday short breaks and respite services to pupils outside the school. We have informal links with other special schools internationally including India. Other facilities offered by the school are a sensory garden, bird hide, nature trail, gymnasium and golf range.
