Friends of the Birnie

Main information

Type of service: Play and leisure

.

Friends of the Birnie is a registered charity (SC007653) whose committee is made up of parent carers. We run a playgroup and support network for children with additional special needs and their families and carers. It runs twice every Wednesday during term time from 9.30am-11.30am and 12.30pm-2.30pm. People are welcome to come along to one or both sessions. It costs £2 per session. Snack for the children and teas/coffees for the adults are provided. It's a good opportunity to be able to meet other people who are going through a similar situation and share experiences or helpful advice. We have a Play Specialist who sets up play opportunities for the children. We have a sensory room and an outdoor sensory/musical garden. The age range is baby to pre-school, parents/carers must stay. The other disabilities and conditions catered for by the service are all additional needs..
