Main information

Type of service: Supported living schemes

Gordon Avenue is a supported living, younger person's transition service, for young adults leaving residential college or foster care/ family home. It specialises in supporting younger adults with learning disabilities, autism, emotional needs and or underlying mental health needs. The service can accommodate six tenants. Its aim is to support individuals to gain the skills necessary to move on to independent living, if they so choose. The service has the scope to provide outreach support once tenants have moved, thus maintaining consistency and continuity. It promotes enablement and inclusion at all times giving tenants the opportunity to explore new experiences and make lifestyle changes based on their own decisions. Staff support is flexible and structured around individual's needs on a daily basis and the staff team are recruited specifically to meet the skills and qualities of the people they are to support. Staff will actively support and encourage individuals to attend college, seek employment both paid and voluntary and participate in numerous recreation opportunities available within local community. The service has supported a number of tenants at Gordon Avenue to seek voluntary and or part time employment in specific areas of personal interest.
