Gorse Farm

Main information

Type of service: Residential services

Gorse Farm is a registered residential home in Marston Green, a small village with numerous shops, pubs, community centre and train services. Since 1997 we have provided permanent accommodation for 14 adults with autism. Gorse Farm is decorated, carpeted and furnished throughout to a high standard. The people we support are consulted and involved in the choice of furnishings and colour schemes. People are encouraged to create a homely environment by personalising their own bedrooms. We are a person-centred service where people using our service are encouraged to be as independent as possible. At Gorse Farm we offer a safe environment, warm, friendly and spacious home with an activity resource centre (ARC). Gorse Farm incorporates original farm buildings and two specially designed seven-bed new build bungalows. We provide an individually tailored, person-centred assessment and care plan which is discussed with each resident to suit their individual needs. This plan is reviewed regularly by our staff and our approach to care builds on residents' strengths and seeks to improve their quality of life. The service has 24 hour staff support, which provides support with personal care, finances, budgeting, medication, social activities etc. All staff are highly trained specifically to support people with autism, sensory impairments and challenging behaviours. Our aim is to maintain and develop independence and ensure that people with a learning disability have choices over their lifestyle and the way in which the service is delivered.
