All pupils have a statement of special educational needs (SEN) with autism as a primary need. Pupils are aged between 11 and 19 years. Academic courses follow National Curriculum differentiated to individual needs. Pupils can study for Unit Award, Entry level or General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE). Integration opportunities in co-located mainstream secondary school. Class sizes average 10 pupils with 1 teacher and 2 Teaching Assistants (TAs). The school has its own speech therapist and recently awarded Autism Accreditation in recognition of its good practice. Volunteers may be accepted to work with the pupils. We do not use The National Autistic Society (NAS) version of the Structure, Positive (approaches and expectations), Empathy, Low arousal, Links (SPELL) but we practise the component parts as recognised by the Autism Accreditation award. Other facilities offered by the school are quiet rooms for withdrawal, local leisure centre, local community such as shops and public transport. The school has 101 students 15 of whom are based at Mid-Kent College, Gillingham and 5 at Hadlow College.
