Greenfields School and Sports College (GSSC) has two five-place classes for young people aged 11 to 19 years old. In addition, other pupils with an autism spectrum disorder (ASD) are integrated into other class groups, but requiring visual timetables. Staff from discrete ASD classes are very experienced in using and applying the principles of Treatment and Education of Autistic and related Communication handicapped CHildren (TEACCH). There is a heavy emphasis upon the organisation of appropriate communication stills using a total communication environment across the school. Volunteers may be accepted to work with the pupils on some occasions.
