Type of service: Day schools, Nursery and pre-schools, Schools
Greenside School is a mixed, day, community special school where we provide education for pupils from early years to nineteen years of age who have been assessed as having severe or profound and multiple learning difficulties. Hertfordshire County Council maintains the school and our catchment area consists of Stevenage and North Hertfordshire. It is a caring school which values respect, enjoyment and diversity within the school community. At Greenside we put the needs of the pupils first and seek to foster the skills and expertise of staff to enable these needs to be best met. We have high expectations for all pupils and aim always to improve. At Greenside we believe in and promote inclusion both in and out of school. We seek to work in partnership with parents, and collaboratively with colleagues from other professions, to ensure that the whole needs of each child are met. Volunteers may be accepted to work with the pupils. Holiday respite is for their own pupils. The Greenside Studio is a specialist, vocational teaching resource, based within the heart of the school’s local community. A ”living classroom”, this local shop premises provides young people who have autism, severe or profound learning difficulties with opportunities to undertake work related learning, including vocational courses designed to develop communication, social-interaction and independence skills. It is open through the year, including Saturdays and is based at The Hyde Shopping Centre, Stevenage.
