Guildford College
Main information
Type of service: Further & Higher Education
If students make themselves known when they apply, or through the "Moving On" process, they are supported through the process and an assessment is made as to whether their needs can be met. Tasters and acclimatisation visits are offered. The College provides a quiet room on each campus. Learning Support tutors, including an autism spectrum disorder (ASD) specialist, provide academic and mentoring support, support students through the transition, and arrange access to speech and language support and other specialist support as necessary. They also work with curriculum teams to develop their understanding of strategies for working with a young person on the spectrum. Volunteers may be accepted to work with the students.
