The name of the specialist resource provision unit for pupils with autism spectrum disorders (ASDs) is The Acorns. We are a 12 place provision for children with Asperger syndrome or autism. We teach social, communication and play skills and integrate the children into our mainstream primary school. Our children are in mainstream between 20 per cent and 60 per cent of each school day, spending the rest of the time in our Special Resourced Provision (SRP) - benefiting from specialist teaching and resources. Volunteers may be accepted to work with the pupils.
