This Consensus service offers accommodation for individuals with learning disabilities, Down syndrome and dementia. The service provides 12 bedrooms designed for personal comfort and freedom. Each bedroom is also fitted with nurse call systems. The service offers a lounge, dining room and a separate lounge and kitchen area on the first floor where individuals can learn life skills and benefit from an independent living experience. There is also a garden where people using the service can enjoy gardening and learn about horticulture. Heather Holmes is located in the town of Desborough, providing a number of local amenities and is a short bus journey away from the town centre of Kettering. Individuals are actively encouraged to develop their community skills and self-confidence; some enjoy a range of volunteer work opportunities and others are also supported to seek full time employment in the local community. The service has its own transport to take individuals on visits and enables them to participate in community life as much or as little as they wish. Heather Holmes also offers its own onsite day support facility providing opportunities for individuals to gain life skills and participate in meaningful activities.
