Herons Dale School is a school for children with moderate learning difficulties (MLD). There are two specialist classes (SSF1/SSF2) to support autism spectrum disorder (ASD) pupils in Key Stages One (KS1) and two. Pupils are educated in groups with others with ASD and in mixed groups depending on the needs of the pupil. Volunteers may be accepted to work with the pupils. From September 2005 Herons Dale School will become a generic primary school. There will be two classes (SFF1 and SSF2) to support ASD pupils in Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 respectively. Groups are of 6 with at least 3:1 staffing ratio.
