Highlands and Islands Autism Society (HIAS)
Main information
Type of service: Local groups
Highlands and Islands Autism Society is mainly made up of parents of children, young people and adults who have autism spectrum disorder. They are a voluntary organisation run completely by volunteers and committee members. They have meetings on the last Wednesday of each month (excluding July and December) at 7.30pm in the MacKenzie Centre, Culduthel Road and Inverness. At meetings they usually have a speaker giving a presentation on services usually followed by a Q&A session, refreshments and a more informal chat. At least twice a year (usually June and November) a 'social night' is organised where people can chat and share experiences/concerns over refreshments.
