Home and Away is a Short Breaks service run by Swindon Family Placement Team, in conjunction with the Disabled Children Team at Saltway Centre, West Swindon. Because the children who need respite care have complex and highly individual needs it is very important to ensure a good 'match' between the child and their family and the Short Break carer assigned to them. Assuring this match is the responsibility of Swindon Borough Council's family placement officers. Ongoing support is offered to Short Break carers and placements are reviewed at six monthly intervals.
