The service holds monthly meetings attended by parents, professionals, and children, young adults and adults with autism. There is sometimes a speaker. Recent speakers have talked about benefit entitlement and what it is like to be a young person with autism. Produces a regular newsletter and organises social events including Crazy Kids, trips to Chester Zoo, cheese and wine evenings, quiz nights and music evenings. A main aim is to support professionals working in Kirklees and beyond, including through an annual study day, benefiting from the ideas and contacts made. The Group has produced a support pack covering a range of subjects including, health, education, benefits, and services and support available in the Huddersfield and the surrounding area. The pack is free to members. The swimming club meets each week. There is also a library with books on a range of subjects useful to both people with autism, parents, siblings, carers, teachers and other professionals. There is also a range of educational software available for members to use.
