The Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) are based at the Newtown Centre in Huntingdon and provides assessment and treatment for children or adolescents under 17 years with emotional, behavioural and developmental problems. The service works closely with other agencies including education, social services and child health services. The team has a wide range of skills and experience. There are a number of professionals, including psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses and occupational therapists, family therapist, community paediatricians and primary mental health workers. There are also social workers in the team, employed by Cambridgeshire County Council. The service is open Monday to Friday. Referrals are accepted from GPs, and other primary are providers, education, social services and the voluntary sector.
