Ideal Education School (IES) provides services to special educational needs (SEN) students from the age of 5 to 21 years. The school has 5 departments of which one caters for students with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Students are placed according to age, disability and sex (after the age of 12). Each classroom has a maximum of 8 students with a teacher and 2 teacher assistants. Students are placed in the following divisions: Early Intervention (5-8 years); Junior (9-11 years); Middle (12-14 years); Senior (15-17 years) and Vocational (18-21 years). The school follows the Baltimore Curriculum Project (BCP) Curriculum, supported by the Treatment and Education of Autistic and related Communication handicapped Children (TEACCH) approaches and assistive technologies. Students and staff are further more supported by Occupational Therapists, Speech Therapists, a Psychologist, Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) Therapist and medical doctor. Volunteers may be accepted to work with the pupils.
