Type of service: Family support and information services
Provides information on autistic spectrum disorders (ASDs) with books, DVDs for loan and leaflets/printouts to take away. Information on local and national services for children with special needs, support groups, local events and courses, information and forms for benefits. The Service also stocks books written for children on autism, other medical conditions and covering other issues such as bereavement. A free 'finding your way' directory of services in Nottinghamshire for children with additional needs is available to families. There is also information for professionals including the 'information prescription' service for health and surestart workers in Nottinghamshire. Some of the information has been translated into a variety of languages. An enquiry service by phone, email or drop-in operates 9am-4:30pm Monday to Friday, with an answerphone available outside of these hours.
