Founded in 1985, the firm developed a broad legal aid practice for many years but has responded to the need to offer specialist advice and representation by concentrating nowadays on public law issues. These are mainly in the field of education, community care and public law - disputes involving certain authorities and government departments. The firm gained franchises in these categories as soon as they were available. Public funding is used whenever possible and the firm holds the relevant contracts from the Legal Services Commission. This is a solicitors' firm acting privately and using legal aid in education law, public law and community care as well as discrimination, court of protection work and information law. In Education Law, they are able to attend education tribunals or associated appeals.
