KIDS Childminding Inclusion Project
Main information
Type of service: Respite and short breaks
The project is managed by KIDS and funded by Birmingham City Council's Short Breaks. It offers parents/carers of children with additional or specific needs the opportunity of inclusive childcare with a registered childminder. This provides an opportunity for all the children in the setting to experience inclusive play. It offers the parents/carers the opportunity of some respite hours, knowing that their child is being cared for in a safe and stimulating environment, and by a registered childminder. Children are referred on to the scheme. A criterion has been drawn up and if this has been met, the project can then be accessed. It is offered up to 13 years of age. Any professional working with the child (eg social worker, health visitor etc), or their parents/carers can make a referral to the service. Care is at the childminder's home and the parent/carers transport the child there. Hours are from 7am-7pm or later by negotiation (not overnight).
