Type of service: Day schools, Nursery and pre-schools, Schools
Kilmaron School is a small additional support needs (ASN) school providing specialist education for pupils aged 3-18 years living in the Cupar / St. Andrews area. All youngsters attending Kilmaron have additional learning needs; many also have additional physical needs. This session we have 20 pupils taught in 4 classes. Our staff to pupil ratio helps to ensure the education and care needs of all learners are appropriately addresses. The school works in partnership with both parents and with staff from many different partner agencies. To help address health and care needs, a nurse from the Community Paediatric Nursing team is permanently based within school. Often working with other schools / colleges in the area, Kilmaron offers youngsters with ASN a well planned and personalised curriculum set within Curriculum for Excellence. In consultation with parents and partner agencies, individualised learning targets are set for all learners across the 8 curriculum areas. Kilmaron is a school at the heart of the local community. Pupils and staff from the school access the shops and facilities in the local community daily. We participate in a number of community events and are supported by many local organisations. Kilmaron pupils are encouraged to be responsible citizens and contributors and as such support many local, national and international causes.
