L'Arche Ipswich
Main information
Type of service: Domiciliary services, Supported living schemes
L'Arche responds to people with learning disabilities, recognising that they have a valid place at the heart of society. Even though it cannot offer a home to everyone who needs one, L'Arche offers a sign, that to be truly human, society must be founded on welcome and respect for people on the margins. L'Arche is about: a shared home life in ordinary houses; people learning and growing through simple daily tasks, shopping, cooking, conversations, sharing a meal; uncovering the gifts of people with learning disabilities through friendships, choice and responsibilities in a supporting environment; bringing a sense of belonging through mutual respect, trust and dedication; allowing people to take control of their own lives; encouraging and involving family support; building links with the wider local community. Volunteers are accepted to work with service users. Referrals by Social Services are accepted.
