Learning Through Horses

Main information

Type of service: Outreach - education

Learning Through Horses offers skills training courses in North London which help young people to develop life skills through working with horses. The main programme we run is the Employability and Horsemanship Skills Programme. This is a personal development programme for young people struggling with employment or education, as well as unemployed adults. The course provides an opportunity for clients to develop skills required for employment and educational success. During the course participants will complete The Prince's Trust Award in Personal Development and Employability Skills - a QCF accredited qualification worth 6 credits. Young people will also gain a foundation of knowledge of horsemanship skills which opens the doors to employment opportunities in the equestrian and animal husbandry industries. The programme runs over 10 weeks and students attend for one morning or afternoon a week (3 hours in total). In addition, we work with a number of schools and other organisations to run bespoke skills training sessions and courses with a focus on horsemanship and personal development. We are happy to discuss options for this depending on the individual needs of your organisation and clients. Bespoke programmes typically involve sessions that last an hour and a half and run for 6-8 weeks.
