Leicestershire Short Breaks Scheme

Main information

Type of service: Respite and short breaks

Children are referred to the Short Breaks Scheme following an assessment by a Social Worker. Children and their families are then matched to a Short Breaks Carer who has been fully assessed and checked under the Foster Care Standards and have introductions to that family. When everyone is happy the child will start going for Short Breaks with the Carer. Carers can be single, couples, with or without children, and seek to support the family by giving the child a stimulating and interesting stay and their family the opportunity to "recharge their batteries".
