Dr Kate Leonard is a Clinical Psychologist, who is able to offer diagnostic assessment for autism spectrum disorders including Asperger Syndrome. She completed her professional training in 2007 and has since completed additional training in gold-standard diagnostic tools - Diagnostic Interview for Social and Communication disorder and the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule. She uses these regularly in her clinical practice in the NHS. The assessment would take place in therapy rooms in Didsbury or Chorlton and a proportion of the meeting may be video-taped in order to allow for accurate analysis. Following the assessment, Dr Leonard typically meets with the individual to provide feedback about whether they meet diagnostic criteria. Assessment sessions would typically be arranged on Mondays or Fridays, however evening and Saturday morning appointments can also be accommodated.

Assessment procedure: Assessment would typically involve 2 x 3 hour sessions. This would consist of general information gathering, adminstration of the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule and completion of self-report questionnaires. Ideally this would also include a meeting with somone who is able to give information about your early development, usually a parent. An assessment of intellectual functioning may also be administered.
