The school provides a highly individualised education with a high level of support and small group teaching. Regular speech and language and emotional support enables learners to access the teaching. The school focusses on destinations, preparation for employment or college or semi independent living. All students expect to achieve between 5 and 8 academic outcomes and gain a high level of lifeskills and social skills, confidence and self esteem. Lighthouse staff have a high level of training and experience in working with students with autism spectrum condition (ASC). Students have a variety of additional needs eg visual impairment, dyspraxia, epilepsy but the primary diagnosis is ASC.
